Why is Toyota Tundra the Best Pickup Truck?

July 12, 2016 by t3atlanta Leave a Comment

To save some cash, you might be looking at getting a pre-owned pickup. It’s a good idea to focus on the best used pickup trucks available, because there’s nothing worse than inheriting a bunch of problems somebody else didn’t want to deal with.

Pickup trucks are great for getting things done. You can throw all kinds of things from rocks to dirt, furniture and whatever else in the bed – stuff you wouldn’t do with any other vehicle. They’re also monsters when it comes to towing, so you can bring along a boat, camper, trailer, etc. for long-haul excursions. Trucks with four-wheel drive are usually excellent at off-roading, and if you modify them, they’re even better at it.

The burning question plenty of shoppers ask: is Toyota Tundra a good truck? The answer is yes. It’s large, highly capable, powerful, and features a spacious cabin. On many levels it meets or exceeds the standards set by other full-size pickups.

Toyota Tundra History

best used pickup trucksWhen it first debuted in 1993, the Tundra was called the Toyota T100. It wasn’t until 2000 that the Tundra name was applied to the pickup. Because of the name switch, the truck is technically in its third production generation.

The current Toyota Tundra has been called the best full size truck 2016 by quite a few reviewers. It offers quite a few advantages over the competition, like onboard technologies that are far easier to use than in competing pickups. The last thing you want to do is being messing with some confusing infotainment system while pulling a trailer and end up in an accident because you’re distracted.

Top-Notch Trim and Comfort

If you go with the Tundra CrewMax cab, the interior is simply massive. That means no shoving adults in the backseat and expecting them to sit in a weird shape so their legs aren’t smashed. With plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and stay comfortable, it’s possible to hit the road for a longer trip, opening up all kinds of possibilities. It simply outclasses other 2016 pickups on interior space.

Choosing a higher trim level for the 2016 Toyota Tundra means you get a downright luxurious truck. While plenty of other brands throw in some wood trim and leather upholstery, the interiors just aren’t put together like the Tundra’s. The Platinum and 1794 Edition especially boast cabs that feel like they’ve been lifted straight out of a Lexus SUV. Premium materials abound, craftsmanship is excellent, and an overall air of excellent quality permeates everything. Try sitting in competing pickups and you’ll quickly feel the difference.

Drivers and passengers will barely feel potholes, speed bumps and rocks as they roll right over them. Add to that the smooth-operating 5.7-liter V-8 engine, which doesn’t make all kinds of unnecessary noise, and you have a pickup that’s more than livable on a daily basis.

Reliability

One huge item most people have on their mind when looking for a pickup truck is reliability. After all, having to deal with a bunch of problems or selling off the vehicle after a few short years of ownership can be expensive and time-consuming.

Even though the Toyota Tundra is highly reliable, some model years are better than others. Looking at the number of issues reported on CarComplaints.com, the 2009 Tundra immediately jumps out as a good option. It has the fewest complaints logged by far. Even referencing NHTSA, complaints show that just about everyone has thoroughly enjoyed the 2009 Toyota Tundra.

Onboard Features

Of course, the newer the Tundra, the more modern the onboard features. Even the lowest trim level for the 2016 model has a windshield wiper deicer which can come in handy when the temperature drops. It also comes with a USB port, auxiliary audio input jack, and an interface for external music players, so you can plug in your iPod, phone or whatever else instead of relying on the radio or CDs. There’s also a 6.1-inch color touchscreen that’s pretty simple to use, unlike the infotainment systems in so many other modern vehicles. Going up the trim lineup, you can get a bigger touchscreen, nicer sound system, navigation and more.

Lexus, Infiniti, Toyota, and Nissan Maintenance

In 1994, our founder, Charles Wright, wanted to leave the corporate/professional environment and start his own company. After months of reading business planning books, he decided to establish an auto service company. He recalled reading that auto repair people were the first or second least trusted group of people among service providers, and Charles wanted to provide Atlanta car owners with a trustworthy auto repair shop. He learned how the service business was structured, and opened T3 Atlanta to offer customers an affordable and efficient service company.
