Recommended Maintenance Lexus

Following the recommended maintenance Lexus schedule will keep your car running trouble-free for a long, long time.  Maintenance records should include date of service, mileage at time of service and a description of service performed and/or parts installed.

Follow these easy steps to find out what the recommended maintenance schedule is for your Lexus:

Does Toyota Make Lexus?

December 27, 2014 by t3atlanta Leave a Comment

A lot of people want to know, does Toyota makes Lexus? In short, Yes. But read on to learn more about the history between these two brands.

Toyota Motor Corporation has come up with a special division of luxury vehicles, which is the Lexus. In Japan, it is noted as the best-selling model of high-end cars, although it is also available globally. In fact, the brand is currently marketed in more than 70 countries throughout the world. At present, the make is based in Nagoya, in Japan, and there are several operational centers situated in certain parts of the world including USA and Belgium.

Lexus was first created in 1983, but it was not launched until about 1989. While the Lexus brand was made by Toyota, it operates independently. However, the profits are considered as the total performance of Toyota. By 2013, the company has reaped about 520,000 total number of sales, which is one of the biggest sales in history.

How it All Began – Brief History of Lexus

Lexus LS 400The brand first started with the codename F1 during the year 1983. In 1989, it was introduced to the public as the original Lexus LS. Afterwards, Toyota’s luxury vehicle division came up with different models of vehicles such as the SUV, convertible, coupe and sedan.

From the years 1989 to 2005, all Lexus vehicles were under the Toyota group, and there were equivalent model names given for every car. Lexus eventually unleashed its F marque performance division, in 2007. This was the year when the IS F sport sedan was launched, and the LFA supercar was presented two years after.

Toyota devoted years to design a luxury car that is within the same range as several other luxury vehicles available internationally. After six years of designing and developing the vehicle, Toyota soon came up with the LS 400. Furthermore, Toyota soon decided to establish a new brand that could help in marketing the car to a wider audience.

Before it was introduced to the public, Lexus was originally referred with the name Alexis, which was the leading option among its developers. However, there were 200 other choices for the best name suitable for the vehicle brand, which were proposed by Lippincott and Marguiles, an image consulting company.

At present, there are five locations in the world that manufacture the Lexus, although four of these plants are based in Japan such as the Sanage, Higashi Fuji, Miyata and Tahara. As for plants overseas, there is one in Cambridge, in Ontario. The Tahara plant in Japan, however, has earned a reputation for manufacturing Lexus vehicles with the least amount of defects.

Further Details about Lexus

Lexus is a subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Corporation, a Japanese automobile maker, which is also entirely owned by the latter. However, it operates independently from its parent company, although Lexus continues to share the engineering resources with Toyota. In the United States, it is one of the brands of vehicles that have been recognized for its premium quality and performance. The LS Sedan is the brand’s flagship car, which was released in 1990. It has also received numerous awards and ranked as among the finest in terms of quality and design.

Lexus RX300 Transmission Problems

October 30, 2014 by t3atlanta Leave a Comment

There are some owners of the Lexus RX300 who may be encountering some transmission problems with their vehicles. What are these common issues, and what may be done to resolve these? Generally, it is best to consult a specialist who can address any concerns you may have about your Lexus RX300. By being aware of these problems, you can contact the right technician who will be able to resolve your concerns promptly and in a professional manner.

Common Transmission Problems

The transmission is an intricate mechanical system, which is responsible for controlling the amount of power from the engine to your car’s drive-shaft. Basically, this part is prone to wear and tear over a period of time, as compared to other parts of the vehicle. This is due to heat and friction caused by your car’s moving parts. When you fail to keep the transmission well-maintained, this can lead to further issues that can impact the overall condition and performance of your car.

In most cases, transmission repairs are stressful, expensive and inconvenient. Thus, it is essential to be aware of any issues the moment you detect any unusual activities in your car. It also helps to adhere to the required maintenance schedules that will prevent any issues from occurring to your transmission. This way, you can ensure your vehicle’s longer life span and fewer needs for repairs.

One of the common transmission issues that vehicles experience is the lack of response. For instance, you may notice that as you drive your car, it tends to refuse to go into the right gear. Normally, your car should go into the right gear when you begin shifting the gears. For automatic transmissions, any delays may occur when you shift into park or drive before you notice the gears engaging. When this issue occurs, it may be due to a clutch that has to be replaced, although there are some problems that will require a more intensive check and repair.

Do you sometimes hear a humming or whining sound when you operate your vehicle? Manual transmissions usually emit a sound that is somewhat louder and more mechanical in nature. You may also hear some clunking sounds the moment you shift gears, and this is most probably a problem that impacts the transmission. So, if you encounter these abnormal sounds, you should have the issue diagnosed and repaired the soonest possible. Waiting it out for a longer time may only lead to more costly problems that may be difficult to resolve.

Another transmission issue that you may encounter is low fluid or leaking concerns. Keep in mind that the automatic transmission fluid serves as the most important component of the transmission since it cleans, conditions and lubricates any seals while serving as hydraulic fluid. If this component remains at its lowest level, the engine will end up malfunctioning and not operating entirely.

If you see leaks on the driveway, then you will have to fix the hole where the ATF is coming out. However, darker fluid with burnt smell may mean you will need to change the fluid, and some repairs may be necessary. To determine if this problem exists in your vehicle, you may need to take a short drive just to warm the car up. Then, check the hood and examine the dipstick, but be sure to secure your car on level ground.

However, when determining the fluid level on a manual transmission vehicle, you need to observe the transmission case, which may be through the car’s fill plug. This should be done instead of reading the dipstick found under the hood.

Lexus RX300 Transmission Problems

There are quite a few transmission problems that occur in the Lexus RX300 model. In some cars at 40,000 mileage, a leak may develop in the transmission seal. During the process of re-lacing this seal, poor installation can cause fluid to leak out, and this can damage your transmission. Adding transmission fluid may resolve this problem, although there may still be some further diagnosis to be done by your mechanic.

Before you consider getting any repairs done, you may want to check the engine light that is coded, as this will allow you to determine if the knock sensors are not in good condition. Perhaps, you may notice that your car will not shift into overdrive, and the engine light may even remain on or off in a sluggish manner.

This problem may be considered as a bad knock sensor, while there are possibilities that this is a transmission issue. Replacing the knock sensors may work, which makes it important for you to have the vehicle diagnosed right away. By doing so, you can avoid the pricey cost that comes with extensive repair works on your car.

You may also encounter issues such as the filter being all clogged up with too much transmission fluid, and it may come with a thick consistency. In addition, it may possible to discover normal wear debris, and this may cause the fluid to suspend. With a combination of these problems, the filter may be clogged up and the transmission may be in bad need for lubricating and cooling oil.

Addressing the Problems

It is important to flush out and clean the transmission system according to the manufacturer’s recommendation. For instance, this should be done at 60,000 miles and replace it with a new filter. Afterwards, flushing out can be performed 30,000 miles after this first service. This is likely to resolve the problem and improve the condition of your vehicle over time.

Bottom Line

High end vehicles such as the Lexus RX300 requires periodic maintenance and diagnosis to avoid premature failure issues from occurring. Hence, make it a point to keep the transmission system clean and flowing smoothly to prevent costly repairs in the future. So, be sure to choose the right auto repair service that you can count on for any transmission issues. Contact T3 Atlanta in Decatur or Smyrna and get the finest auto repair service at a reasonable price. After all, you only deserve the best service that will meet your needs and standards.
